Talking Heads - “A Clean Break (Let’s Work)” (Live November 17, 1977)
Oh hey it’s February 14th! Let’s listen to some Talking Heads! The band never really wrote any love songs—except for one, which happens to be one of the greatest songs ever (even if David Byrne might be trolling us). ”A Clean Break” however is an anthem of an anti-love song. Byrne passionately shouts about washing and taking a past love away, trying his damnedest to purge the very emotion from his system. This startlingly good performance comes courtesy of the Talking Heads’ essential live collection, and it showcases the band’s lean funk sound and intense energy at the beginning of their career.
